PSA and KAI ink MoU on rail logistics in Indonesia

PSA (Indonesia) and KAI have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) collaborate on enhancing the rail and rail-linked logistics ecosystem in the world’s fourth most populous nation. Singapore-headquartered terminal operator PSA International has been expanding its presence into logistics including with the acquisition of BDP International. Related: Xiamen Port inks cooperation agreement with PSA in SingaporePSA and Kai will work on joint feasibility studies to develop cooperation plans and explore potential co-investment in new or existing rail-linked infrastructure in Indonesia. Ong Kim Pong, Regional CEO Southeast Asia, PSA International, said, “We are pleased to embark on this strategic partnership with KAI, the biggest operator of public railway in Indonesia. The other shareholders are Pelindo II, Mitsui & Co, and NYK. PSA extends supply chain push acquiring BDP International | TAPA

Singapore-headquartered PSA has agreed to buy BDP for an undisclosed sum from private equity firm Greenbriar Equity Group.BDP is a global logistics solutions provider managing end-to-end movement of shipments for a range of segments such as chemicals, industrial, healthcare, consumer and retail customers. The company has 133 offices worldwide. With a portfolio of over 60 deepsea port operations, rail and inland facilities worldwide PSA has been looking beyond its traditional role as a terminal operator in recent years to the management of the end-to-end supply chain setting up new businesses Calista and Cargo Solutions. The BDP acquisition sees a further extension of this strategy.
